Summary of the Role
Join a large biotech pharmaceutical leader as a Strategic Sourcing Manager focused on capital construction projects. You will lead sourcing and contracting for large capital projects (often $500M+), manage competitive RFPs, and partner closely with project delivery teams and suppliers. This role is highly cross functional and ideal for someone with hands-on capital projects procurement experience and strong e-sourcing tool skills.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of large and mid sized capital construction projects, including sourcing and contracting strategy
Support spend subcategories such as A/E services, construction management, automation integration, commissioning and validation, and general/trade contractors
Lead end to end sourcing: RFP development, e-sourcing (eRFX), bid analysis, recommendation, negotiation, and contract execution
Serve as the procurement process and systems expert, ensuring compliance with global sourcing policies and procedures
Act as contracting lead using tools such as Ariba, Scout, and Sirion (template selection, authoring, negotiation, execution, and ongoing contract management)
Develop and maintain project sourcing plans as living documents throughout the project lifecycle
Manage commercial relationships as liaison between project delivery teams and suppliers
Support dispute, claim, and change order resolution with project and project controls managers
Support savings delivery and validation for Global Category Managers
Required Experience and Skills
Approximately 5 or more years hands-on capital construction procurement experience (competitive RFPs, project teams)
Experience with e-sourcing and contract tools such as Ariba (required); Scout and/or Sirion strongly preferred
Strong understanding of contract negotiation, commercial structures, and contract execution
Ability to manage sourcing projects and capital contracts with minimal oversight
Demonstrated experience collaborating across multiple business units and stakeholders
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Combination of sourcing, contracting, and project management experience
At least 6 years as sourcing or procurement lead on multiple project delivery teams
Broad understanding of construction market forces, supplier base, and regulatory context
Experience in construction within the pharma or biotech industry is a plus
Top 3 Must Have Skills
Capital projects sourcing experience with e-tools (Ariba, Scout, Sirion)
Ability to manage projects independently with minimal oversight
Proven collaboration across various business units and functions
Day to Day Responsibilities
Manage sourcing projects aligned to business goals and project timelines
Run full RFP cycles (technical and commercial analysis, award recommendation, negotiation, execution)
Support ongoing contract management, including renewals and renegotiations
Ensure procurement policies and compliance metrics are met or exceeded through proper contracting and purchase order processes
Partner with Finance and functional leaders to support savings delivery and reporting
Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree, or
Master’s degree and 2 years of experience, or
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience, or
Associate’s degree and 8 years of experience, or
High school diploma or GED and 10 years of experience
