Project Management Senior Associate

HQ-Thousand Oaks, CA

Location: Remote - HQ-Thousand Oaks, CA (any US time zone)

Employment Type: Contingent Worker (Contract, W2)

Contract Length: 12 months (possible extension)

Compensation: $52/$59 per hour (based on experience)

Summary of the Role

Join a big biopharma leader as a Project Manager supporting moderately complex projects within engineering or the pharmaceutical/biotech sector. You will lead projects leveraging Agile principles and manage timelines, resources, project deliverables, and reports. Your expertise in Smartsheet, project planning, and cross-functional coordination will contribute directly to successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear direction on project requirements to meet customer and stakeholder expectations
  • Lead the team in defining program strategies, setting goals, identifying risks, and assigning project tasks
  • Ensure the project team achieves all deliverables and goals
  • Interface with all levels of management through program updates and reviews
  • Provide technical project management expertise across all project phases
  • Apply Agile principles in daily project management activities
  • Resolve conflicts and facilitate win-win outcomes
  • Contribute to study management and develop or update study documents ensuring compliance
  • Manage set-up and oversight of third-party vendors, statements of work, and budgets
  • Prepare presentation materials for meetings and newsletters
  • Contribute to the review and development of SOPs and guidance documents

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in engineering or pharmaceutical/biotech environments
  • Advanced Smartsheet skills and hands-on experience
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Jira, Miro, Visio, SharePoint, MS Teams, OneNote, and Office 365
  • Ability to drive detailed project planning and lead project execution
  • Strong influencing skills without direct authority
  • Demonstrated adaptability in project and software tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or other technical disciplines
  • Project management experience within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology organization

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Provide technical project management expertise in all phases of project execution
  • Resolve conflicts and facilitate team collaboration
  • Prepare presentations and reports for senior management
  • Schedule and run project meetings, updating timelines and risk/issue logs

Basic Qualifications

  • Master degree
  • Bachelor degree and 2 years of experience
  • Associate degree and 6 years of experience
  • High school diploma / GED and 8 years of experience
