Day to Day Responsibilities:    
  • Review Job Hazard Analysis
  • Perform Safety Reviews (Lockout Tagout, Hot Work, Fall Protection)
  • Pressure systems understanding
  • Working with Facilities / partnership

Job Summary:
  • The Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) Manager will drive world class EHSS performance across the site in a biotech research environment. The role will be responsible for the execution of key EHSS processes including:
  • Continuous improvement of the safety program across site
  • Trending and analysis of EHSS information and provide data intelligence and actions
  • Provide support for projects as part of EHS Design Review, Change Management, etc.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for several EHSS programs including Contractor Management, environmental programs, and industrial safety

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Support laboratory clients with input from other EHSS subject matter experts at the site and from within the Company R&D community.
  • Partner with clients to advance safety culture and manage EHSS risks
  • Analyze metrics and establish annual action plans to drive continuous improvement.
  • Establish and execute risk assessment plans for clients tensure all risks are proactively addressed and control systems are implemented and maintained
  • Ensure all changes with potential EHSS impact are assessed and controls are established prior implementation
  • Ensure all hazards are identified and risks are proactively assessed
  • Establish safe work procedures for hazardous work
  • Conduct regular inspections of the work areas

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree & 3 to 5 years of experience in EHSS
  • Strong understanding of Chemical and Biological laboratory operations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry implementing EHSS programs
  • Optional - Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Experience implementing and supporting CCD, hazardous gas, warehouse, chemical, biosafety and safety programs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and influence management
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, action oriented, self-starting, program development and project management
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, smart sheets, and other computer software systems
