Principal Technical Solution Architect/Technical Lead

Day to Day Responsibilities:     
  • Provide technical leadership to the project team which consists of Amgen staff and third-party vendor resources
  • Drives the team to deliver timely end-to-end implementation
  • Design and help manage the implementation of the full stack in cooperation with customer stakeholders and the development team consisting of Amgen and non-Amgen resources
  • Create architectural approaches for extending the existing system for the next releases.
  • Lead prioritization of solution / technical requirements and champion resolution of solution / product gaps
  • Review requirements and technical designs to identify areas of risk and/or missing requirements
  • Drive technology planning, engineering, architecture, protocol analysis, and development of technical standards and interface applications
  • Optimize architecture for operating efficiency and alignment with business needs
  • Provide technical write-ups and diagrams to promote the proposed solutions
  • Review the Sprint tasks with the project team, manage sprint scope, commit to completing sprint tasks, and deliver on those commitments
  • Lead the Sprint technical review and obtain sign-off from Amgen technical team
  • Oversee code review and testing to ensure scalability, performance and quality
Summary:
We provide Informatics support for Target Identification, Target Validation, and Non-Clinical Safety Assessment activities across Amgen Research. Currently implementing a next generation Target Liability Assessment (TLA) system to uncover new and deeper insights for target discovery, validation and liability assessments. The TLA system uses Docker containerized microservices generated by Jhipster and deployed into a Kubernetes cluster front-ended by Jhipster gateway implementation. Authentication and authorization are managed using OKTA via SAML and Jhipster UAA for microservices security. The front-end UI is built in ExtJS and D3 frameworks. User data is persisted in an Oracle database accessed using JPA / JDBC and generated by Jhipster using liquibase for DDL management. Testing includes JUnit testing as part of the CI stack and UI unit tests automated using Sencha Test and Selenium. CI, CD, and code management are via a gitlab server using CIRunner. All systems are deployed in a private AWS VPC. We use Agile code development practices to implement projects.

You’ll need to have:
  • 10 yrs. experience as IS Architect and/or Software Engineer and demonstrated experience working on significant number of production level projects
  • Familiarity with the following technologies:
  • Java, Jhipster, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Spring Cloud, Rancher, Swagger, SQL, Oracle, liquibase, Zuul, ExtJS, D3, Javascript, HTML/CSS, gitlab CI, Oauth(2)
  • Excellent knowledge of software and application design architecture for Microservices
  • AWS production deployment services experience, EC2, LB, S3, Athena, RDS, Aurora
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript (ExtJS, D3) and UI/UX design
  • Experience working with SAML, SSO and Okta
  • Outstanding communication and excellent collaborative skills, demonstrated success leading technical teams
