Contract Length: 12 months (possible extension)
Compensation: $57/$66 per hour (based on experience)
Summary of the Role
Join a big biopharma leader’s Global Trade and Customs Excellence team, advancing global trade compliance and execution for the organization. You’ll help ensure products reach global destinations efficiently by classifying commodities, managing documentation, and supporting compliance, with strong opportunities for cross-functional teamwork. The role is flex remote with preference for workers within commutable distance to Thousand Oaks, or fully remote within Pacific or Mountain time zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification codes and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) for drug products, raw materials, chemicals, and other business materials
- Review shipping documentation and customs invoices for accuracy, including valuation, commodity classification, and country of origin
- Submit Export Declaration (EEI) to US Census via AES
- Complete Sanctioned Party List Screening using SAP-Global Trade Services (GTS)
- Classify products in accordance with the Harmonized Tariff of the United States (HTS US)
- Facilitate communication and ensure compliance with legal and customs requirements for internal and external stakeholders
- Support audits and onsite inspections as needed
Required Experience & Skills
- Experience in trade compliance and harmonized tariff classification
- Strong understanding of shipping documentation, customs valuation, and country of origin determination
- Effective communicator capable of conducting and facilitating meetings
- Ability to explain legal and customs requirements to diverse stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- U.S. Licensed Customs Broker
- Understanding of International Customs and World Trade Organization regulations
- Knowledge of import/export processes in non-US countries
- Cross-functional, cross-regional partnership experience
- Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, collaboration, and executive presentation skills

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Assign HTS classification and ECCN to various company commodities
- Review and validate shipping and customs documentation
- Submit Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings via AES
- Perform Sanctioned Party List Screening in SAP GTS
- Ensure accuracy in product classification per HTS US
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience
- Associate’s degree and 6 years of experience
- High school diploma / GED and 8 years of experience
