Summary of the Role
Join the Global Accounting team of a large biotech pharmaceutical leader as a Senior Manager of Cost Accounting. In this hands-on leadership role, you will manage a team overseeing inventory and cost accounting for the manufacturing network, while ensuring full US GAAP compliance. The position includes managing both onsite and offshore staff and supporting key ERP initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 4-5, plus offshore vendor support for global cost and operations accounting
- Oversee accounting and reporting activities related to inventory, reserves, and transfer pricing to ensure US GAAP/statutory compliance
- Collaborate with FP&A, Supply Chain, Corporate Tax, Disbursements, and I.S. to ensure accurate inventory accounting
- Act as primary contact for Corporate External Reporting, Audit, and Tax Compliance teams
- Drive ERP and automation (including Robotics Process Automation) implementation for Cost & Operations Accounting, including system design, documentation, and personnel training
- Support testing and rollout of new ERP functionality
- Perform inventory accounting for designated manufacturing sites
- Manage and review work from outsourced providers
- Prepare and review audit schedules; respond to auditor inquiries
- Consolidate, analyze, and report global inventory balances and perform detailed monthly variance analysis
Required Experience & Skills
- SAP and S4 HANA experience
- Strong cost accounting background in a large company environment
- Demonstrated application of US GAAP
- Experience managing teams and working with outsourced or offshore support
- Initiative, self-motivation, and ability to work independently
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Effective communication and ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA
- Big 4 Public Accounting or audit experience
- Advanced technical US GAAP knowledge in inventory
- Strong business analytical skills
- Experience leading projects and supervising contractors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the Global Cost & Operations Accounting team and offshore staff, ensuring all inventory and cost accounting tasks are completed accurately and on time. Drive ERP and automation initiatives, support testing and process documentation, and act as a key contact for audit and compliance matters. Foster a proactive, self-motivated team environment.
