Project Manager

Location: Remote - Newbury Park, CA (EST or CST preferred)

Employment Type: Contingent Worker (Contract, W2)

Contract Length: 10 months (possible extension)

Compensation: $71/$80 per hour (based on experience)


Summary of the Role

Join a high-impact team within the Strategic Planning and Operations function of a large biotech pharmaceutical leader's Precision Medicine organization. As Project Manager, you will drive end-to-end transformation initiatives across R&D, helping to streamline cross-functional processes that advance critical business outcomes. This role requires strong project management, excellent attention to detail, and experience in regulated industries such as pharma, biotech, or medical device. You will collaborate closely with various business partners to execute high-priority projects that deliver enterprise-wide value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, monitor, and control project activities to achieve goals within scope, quality, time, and budget constraints
  • Document project plans, actions, decisions, and communicate progress to key stakeholders
  • Facilitate team meetings and manage communications, including agendas, schedules, minutes, and presentations
  • Map and document end-to-end processes within Precision Medicine and R&D initiatives
  • Apply knowledge of team objectives, escalating issues as appropriate
  • Support one or more transformation initiatives across cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with team leads, workstream leaders, and SPO to ensure alignment and timely execution
  • Drive process simplification and implement project plans in regulated and R&D environments

Required Experience & Skills

  • Proven project management skills with ability to independently track deliverables and drive workstreams
  • Experience in regulated industries (pharma, biotech, medical device, or other FDA/USDA environments)
  • High-level understanding of R&D to product or drug development pipelines
  • Strong attention to detail, managing complex data and identifiers accurately
  • Proficient in Excel and ability to learn Smartsheet rapidly
  • Excellent written communication and judgment for issue escalation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing complex, workforce strategy or R&D build projects
  • Demonstrated expertise generating project documentation, including charters, plans, risk mitigation, and timelines
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across all organizational levels
  • Effective meeting and action item management
  • Familiarity with R&D processes in science-based or similar regulated industries
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with flexibility and high learning agility
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and MS Teams
  • Process-mapping experience

1. Experience managing complex, workforce strategy/build R&D projects, including developing and executing project plans

2. Experience accurately mapping end-to-end processes in the R&D space

3. Ability to document and communicate project plans, actions, and decisions to stakeholders

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Work closely with strategic and workstream leaders to drive planning, execution, monitoring, and control of activities
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation and clear communications with stakeholders
  • Facilitate and manage meetings, including all associated deliverables
  • Apply insights to escalate and resolve challenges efficiently
  • Map complex processes in the Precision Medicine space in alignment with team leads

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree
  • Master’s degree and 2 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience
  • Associate’s degree and 8 years of experience
  • High school diploma / GED and 10 years of experience
