R&D Operations Manager

Location: Remote – U.S. (any time zone)
Employment Type: Contingent Worker (Contract, W2)
Contract Length: 14 months (possible extension)
Compensation: $73–$83 per hour (based on experience)


Summary of the Role
Join a large biotech pharmaceutical leader supporting the clinical biomarker portfolio. You will drive supplier management initiatives, lead procurement activities, and improve processes and tools to enhance productivity. This role plans, coordinates, and executes project and operational activities, ensures alignment across projects, oversees assay development/implementation operations, and serves as the primary operational point of contact for biomarker activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supplier & Contract Management: Manage the contract-to-pay cycle; coordinate quotes and POs; ensure adherence to corporate procurement guidelines and timelines.

  • Vendor Oversight: Lead recurring supplier meetings; track deliverables; develop and monitor KPIs; escalate issues and drive remediation.

  • Program/Operations Execution: Plan and coordinate activities that advance biomarker strategies; align work across studies; support assay development/implementation readiness and timelines.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with functional leads; provide clear status, risk, and decision communications.

  • Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and tools; contribute to continuous improvement across systems (e.g., SharePoint, document management, planning systems).

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Manage contract-to-pay with functional leads; generate quotes and request POs for key suppliers

  • Run weekly/bi-weekly supplier meetings to track progress and deliverables

  • Develop and maintain supplier KPIs; monitor metrics and escalate as needed

  • Ensure compliance with procurement processes; coordinate with shared-services/transaction centers

  • Partner with functions to ensure smooth execution of contracted deliverables

  • Cultivate relationships with internal stakeholders; anticipate and respond to business needs

  • Utilize SharePoint, document management systems, and planning tools for tracking and reporting

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD, or

  • Master’s degree and 2 years of relevant PM experience, or

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant PM experience, or

  • Associate’s degree and 6 years of relevant PM experience
