Global Transportation Manager

Contract Length: 3 years
 

A large biotech pharmaceutical leader is seeking a Transportation Specialist (Global Transportation Manager) for the Americas. This role manages supplier relationships for designated Transportation Service Providers, ensuring high performance and compliance. You’ll design, implement, and monitor GDP-compliant, cost-effective transportation strategies, applying continuous improvement to optimize service, compliance, and efficiency.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary contact for assigned GTX carriers; lead performance reviews, address escalations, and drive improvements

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve supplier issues and maintain strong relationships

  • Analyze data from SAP TM and other systems to identify trends and solutions

  • Serve as subject matter expert for transportation and GDP topics in the Americas

  • Document and maintain transportation procedures

  • Initiate and lead GTX-related projects to improve compliance, service, and efficiency

  • Investigate transportation incidents; manage root cause analysis and CAPA closure

  • Monitor industry trends and update internal teams

  • Support audits and provide carrier-related documentation

  • Maintain and improve KPIs and performance metrics
     

Top 3 Must Have Skills:

  1. Strong analytical skills, including advanced MS Excel

  2. Proven project management across departments/geographies

  3. Supplier relationship management with internal/external stakeholders
     

Basic Qualifications:
One of the following, preferably in logistics or engineering:

  • Doctorate degree

  • Master’s + 2 years experience

  • Bachelor’s + 4 years experience

  • Associate’s + 8 years experience

  • HS diploma/GED + 10 years experience


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in logistics, engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years in logistics, supply chain, cold chain, and/or transportation

  • Stable work history (2+ years per role)

  • Experience managing suppliers and improving processes

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and in cross-functional teams

  • Analytical mindset; ability to turn data into actionable insights

  • Growth mindset and interest in long-term opportunities
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in pharma, biotech, life sciences, or healthcare

  • GMP/GDP knowledge

  • Operational Excellence tools (Six Sigma, FMEA)

  • Familiarity with SAP TM and BW

  • Experience setting up service level agreements

  • Strong technical writing skills

     

Pay Rate: Open Market Rate
