The Quantitative Molecular Biology group in the Genome Analysis Unit is seeking a highly motivated temporary Associate Scientist in the field of molecular biology to join the NGS wet-lab team at our research facility in South San Francisco. This associate scientist will work closely with an energetic research team to execute NGS experiments and generate high quality data by using cutting-edge platforms for nucleic-acid research and single-cell genomics.

Responsibilities –
• RNA/DNA isolation and hybridization, PCR, NGS library construction, single-cell genomics experiments
• Operation of sample quality control instruments, high-throughput sequencers, and automated liquid handlers, as well as maintenance of common laboratory material stocks
• Sample/project organization and clear documentation of experimental work


Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, or related fields
OR
Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or genomics and at least 2 years of scientific experience in the related fields


Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and works well in teams
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced with handling multiple projects simultaneously
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
• Adept with spreadsheet and word processing software
• Familiarity with NGS sequencing, single-cell genomics, and sensitive nucleic acid technologies is a plus
