Day to Day Responsibilities: 

Receiving and responding to external companies and inquiries. Creating database folders for new projects and ensuring database is accurate and current. Triaging external potential projects with Business Development colleagues to prioritize opportunities. Manage and create algorithms for metrics.
Point of contact for staff requiring training on the use of the database and troubleshooting.

Job Summary
Candidate will use scientific knowledge and skills to assist the External R&D (prospectors) in prescreening, accessing and processing licensing opportunities from external companies and other sources. In addition, the candidate will also be responsible for coordinating and leading projects for the Licensing team. 

Daily responsibilities include: 
Receiving, acknowledging to external company, entering information and tracking the status of each opportunity in the LT database 
Applying scientific knowledge to assess and characterize incoming product and technology licensing opportunities and then direct to the appropriate prospector
Adding value by generating, summarizing and analyzing additional data from external sources as required to help ERD make data based decisions 
Coordinating input and feedback from Amgen staff in other functions, including research, legal and finance, as needed 
Ensuring appropriate follow-up with outside companies and institutions in coordination with team members 
Conducting database searches to help generate therapeutic landscapes 
Generating departmental reports/metrics 
Supporting Prospectors with generating, assembling, and entering into LT database the internal opportunity review agenda, documents (xLET) and meeting minutes Support IS database replacement project and external portal page 
open inbox transition process 
Partnering with ERD staff to enhance business processes and identify areas for process improvement and standardization 

Basic Qualifications: 

B.S. in Science, Healthcare, Biological Science or equivalent combination of relevant educational and professional experience. M.S. preferred, MBA an asset. Experience: Typically 2 to 5 years in a Medical/Scientific Research or Development environment including on-line research experience Typically 2 to 5 years pharmaceutical/biotechnology or healthcare experience Proficiency with information retrieval from Internet, business, clinical, scientific, and healthcare resources essential. 

Skills and Competencies: 

Strong scientific knowledge/academic background 
Advanced scientific data analysis and interpretation skills for decision-making and problem solving -Strong interpersonal and communication skills a must including oral, written and listening 
Strong customer focus and service oriented 
Project management skills and proficiency in databases utilization, data entry, Windows and MS Office to include PowerPoint 
Ability to search and retrieve information from specialized proprietary databases, Internet and other external information sources 
Ability to work effectively both in teams and individually
MS or PhD in Science area biological science
