Lab Support Technician

Day to Day Responsibilities:
  • Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: initiate and manage work orders related to equipment or facility; manage the end to end asset life-cycle from installation to retirement; support the scientific community to reduce their administrative burden; act as conduit between functional areas and various operational support resources.
  • Additionally, this role will participate in the collection and evaluation of lab instrument analytics; including utilization, down time and cost to own.
  • Qualified staff will also support lab relocation's and modifications by assisting in the coordination of equipment relocation's, decommissions and re-installations. May assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Provides general laboratory support to the Research and Development laboratories.
  • This candidate will report into Research Lab Operations site leads and will work closely with key contacts in Research laboratory functions and Research Lab Operations team members.
  • This resource will interface with the scientific communities and critical resource groups like Lab Asset Management Program (LAMP), Lab Consumables and Scientific Services (LCSS), EHSS, Facilities and purchasing to name a few.

  • Knowledge of regulatory (GLP and GCP) and pharmaceutical processes is highly recommended

Basic Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor degree preferred with 2-4 years of experience related to laboratory support or project management.
Physical Demands:
  • The overall physical exertion of this position requires:
  • Sit or stand 2-3 hours in laboratory areas.
  • Walk 2-3 hours within a facility.
  • Reach above/below the shoulder, bend at the knees and waist.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Office work activities, including keyboard, with fingers/hands/arms up to 4 hours.
  • Work around moving laboratory equipment and machinery.
  • Use of personal protective equipment in laboratory.
  • Work in areas containing biohazards such as blood borne pathogens.
Working Environment
  • Must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment.
  • Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
  • Employee maybe required to manage hazardous wastes in compliance with company procedures & State/Federal/Local hazardous waste regulations.
  • Duties may include: Identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storing, labeling.
  • Ensure safety, security, and the environment in all aspect of the daily activities, and any potential safety hazards are addressed and corrected immediately.
  • Understand ergonomic relationship between people, equipment and working environment.
